It is going to be a delight to welcome the Nashville Choral Project to PLPC on Sunday morning. I have heard wonderful words about the quality of music they bring; we are honored to have them with us during this busy Advent season. As we will be lighting the third candle (the pink candle) for the Sunday of Joy, one of the pieces that the Nashville Choral Project will be presenting is selections from “The Seven Joys of Christmas” by Kirke Mechem. We hope you can join us for this special opportunity to experience joy, through music and worship, either in person or online. Invite your friends and family too!
If you will be worshiping with us in person, I hope you are also planning to stay for the Fellowship Christmas Lunch. The meals here at PLPC are always delicious and plentiful, and the fellowship around the tables is engaging and welcoming. Another opportunity to experience the Sunday of joy - see you on Sunday!

Crisis Communications
by Dave Nock
In the event of a family incident, a disaster, or worse yet a catastrophic event, communication is vital. We like to know what is happening, what action to take, and most important, where our loved ones are, and are they ok.
For PLPC the congregation is family. We have prided ourselves in taking care of each other. The church plan, (the Priest Lake Presbyterian Church Disaster Response Plan) addresses communication with the congregation. As with all things presbyterian, we must have a process. Communication in this process is critical. If severe weather or a worst event were to impact on the church, the community, or Middle Tennessee area we need the ability to make educated decisions for ourselves and for our family.
For PLPC, communication will start with the Session. The Pastor will keep the Session informed of events, requests for support, and the situation with both congregation members and the community. The pastor must be able to take care of their family, therefore the members of Session will assist in facilitating the process of communications with the congregation. While the Pastor is the Head of Staff, the Pastor can not and should not do it all.
As we go into the winter months and followed by the Tennessee severe weather season, here are a couple of points to consider:
Just a few points on Crisis Communications. Remember prayer is a two-way conversation. We speak to God, and He responds through peace, conviction, and reminders of Scripture. Philippians 4:6–7: Prayer brings God’s peace, guarding hearts and minds.

As we go into the winter months and followed by the Tennessee severe weather season, here are a couple of points to consider:
- - Have a family communication plan. Realizing the normal means of communication may not work.
- - Have a family member or friend that is out of state to serve as a contact point for family. Sometimes it is easier to communicate outside of an area code than it is inside. Have at least one out of town contact.
- - The kids need to be able to memorize a contact phone number and an address.
- - Have multiple means to communicate, phone, email and even text. A lot of times phone and email will not go through, but text will. When all else fails, mail (yes have an address).
- - Store phone numbers not just on your phone but also on paper. The old black book works well.
- - Agree on a check-in method. Whether it is social media, a group chat or other means. I use “WhatsApp”. It is an internet-based system.

Sunday is the last day to contribute to the staff christmas gift
PLPC has been blessed with a small army of talented, dedicated people who keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. To show our gratitude, Session has voted to continue our yearly Staff Gift Program.
We’ll be collecting donations November 23 through December 14, and gifts will be divided among 10 staff members and distributed on December 21.
Here’s how you can give:

We all have sweet memories of our past Christmas tradition of writing Christmas cards to each other and dropping them into a basket. In today's world of Facebook, Subsplash, texting, and email, the Session made the decision to end the traditional Christmas Post Office. It's still important to reach out to our friends that we don't see on a regular basis so if you need an address or phone number, please call or email the office.

Dinner on December 17th.
The Ladies Mid-Week Bible study has finished the Advent study. They decided it's too soon to start a Lenten journey, so they made plans for another dinner out.
Reservations have been made at Tennfold for Wednesday, December 17 at 5:30. 2408 Lebanon Pike. It looks like they have a great menu - check out the desserts! As always, all the women of PLPC are invited to join us however you will need to RSVP.
