I encourage us all to keep the members of our Pastor Nominating Committee – Jeff Binns, Lisa Blaustone, Chelsea Jennette, Jon Loudermilk, and Tom Tozer – in our prayers, as they continue to work diligently and faithfully to seek the person whom God is calling to be the next pastor of Priest Lake Presbyterian Church. They’ve been meeting regularly since they were first elected by the congregation, eight months ago. They’ve prepared the proper forms and received the required approvals from the presbytery to get the word out to prospective ministers about the tremendous opportunity that is available here. They are currently engaging in exploratory conversations with candidates who have shown an interest in learning more about the church.
We pray for Jeff, Lisa, Chelsea, Jon, and Tom, and for the persons who may be interested in serving here, as they all do this important spiritual discernment work. Equip them, Lord, with wisdom, patience, cooperation, and openness to divine possibilities as they offer their time, energy, and attention for the good of the church. Give them clarity and sensitivity to the movement and invitation of the Holy Spirit. In the twists and turns, up and downs, stresses and strains of their work together, grow their faith and trust in our risen Savior. Amen.
Thank you – Jeff, Lisa, Chelsea, Jon, and Tom! Your church loves you and is praying for you!

Stay connected wherever summer takes you
As summer begins and many of us find ourselves on the road — visiting family, taking long‑awaited trips, or simply enjoying a slower rhythm — we want to remind you that your church family travels with you in spirit. Even when you’re away you can stay rooted in worship and community.
Each Sunday’s service is streamed live on our website and on our Facebook page, and you can also watch directly through the PLPC app — just tap the Media section to find the latest service. Whether you’re joining us in real time or catching up later in the week, we’re grateful to stay connected with you through these moments of worship.
Wherever your summer takes you, may you find rest, renewal, and reminders of God’s presence — and know that your PLPC family is always just a click away.

Flag Day
by Dave Nock
We have Memorial Day in May, Flag Day in June, Independence Day in July, Labor Day in September, what a minute – Flag Day? What is that? Flag Day in the United States is June 14th each year, a day set aside to honor the adoption of the American flag and reflect on its meaning in the nation’s history. The date marks June 14, 1777, when the Second Continental Congress approved the first official U.S. flag design. The Flag Resolution of 1777, which established the original design: 13 stripes (red and white) and 13 stars in a blue field, representing the original states. The evolution of the flag has become a symbol of unity, identity, and national purpose.
In 1885 Bernard J. Cigrand, a Wisconsin teacher, held the first recognized school celebration of Flag Day and spent his life promoting it. In 1916 President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation establishing June 14 as Flag Day. In 1949: Congress officially designated June 14 as National Flag Day. Although widely observed, Flag Day is not a federal holiday, but some states—like Pennsylvania—recognize it as a state holiday. June 14 is also the birthday of the U.S. Army (founded in 1775), giving the date added patriotic significance. (Just had to put that in there).

Memorial Gifts for Phil Hereford

As we remember our dear friend and charter member, Phil Hereford, we also want to honor the wishes of the Hereford family regarding memorial gifts. In Phil’s obituary, the family shared that memorial donations may be directed to Friends of Angaza Nuru.
Friends of Angaza Nuru began as a ministry connected to PLPC many years ago, and although it has since become an independent 501(c)(3), it remains close to the heart of this congregation. If you feel led to give in Phil’s memory, gifts intended for this ministry may be made payable to Friends of Angaza Nuru, or given securely through their website.
Memorial gifts meant for PLPC should be written to Priest Lake Presbyterian Church.
We are deeply grateful for every expression of love, remembrance, and support offered in Phil’s honor.

Another Opportunity to Volunteer
This summer, Metro Nashville Public Schools is preparing 13,000 school supply boxes that will be waiting on the desks of every kindergarten and first-grade student on their first day of school. Before they can be filled, however, each box must be folded by hand.
This is the perfect volunteer opportunity for your company team, faith community, civic organization, employee resource group, or group of friends. The work is simple and repetitive, but the impact is extraordinary. Every box you fold helps ensure a child starts the school year feeling prepared, welcomed, and supported.
MNPS is proud to partner with our community to ensure every child begins the school year with confidence, dignity, and the tools they need to succeed. This year, we are expanding our former Kindergarten Box initiative to include both kindergarten and first-grade students, reaffirming our commitment to Every Student Known and ensuring each child feels seen, supported, and ready to thrive.
By volunteering, you'll help remove financial barriers for families and create joyful, stress-free first days of school. Every kindergarten and first-grade student in MNPS will receive a box of essential school supplies delivered directly to their classroom and waiting on their desk on day one.
Whether you can bring 5 people or 50, your group can make a meaningful difference. Gather your colleagues, congregation, friends, or community members and join us in this effort to support Nashville's youngest learners.
Together, we can put joy, dignity, and learning tools on every desk—before the first school bell rings.
Sincerely,
Family & Community Partnerships

The Church Sign receives a much needed update
Have you driven past the church sign in the evening recently?
Back in April, we had some long needed repairs done to replace mechanical parts and update the bulbs to LED. Now our PLPC sign is much easier to read.
And it serves to tell local commuters that we are here and they are welcome to worship with us.
We're on vaca!
As mentioned, “Come to the Table” will be on vacation for July and August and will resume in the fall. I just checked the calendar and found Labor Day is Mon, Sept. 7th which of course, we will all want to attend the Men’s Labor Day BBQ that day!! To have a CTTT the very next day would be silly (I will be too full!), so I will resume CTTT on Tues. October 13th @ 11:30. Menu TBD and will be advised later on in the summer.
Thanks to all who participate!!
