Sunday November 2, 2025
Rev. Ray Thomas
Tyler Owen, Liturgist

†CALL TO WORSHIP:
One: We gather today in the presence of the saints-those who have gone before, and those who walk among us. We remember their faith, their courage, their love.
All: Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, those God redeemed from trouble.
One: In the midst of lament and longing, we seek a new perspective.
All: We come to listen, to learn, to be transformed.
One: Let us worship God with hearts open to change.
All: Let us worship with hope humility, and joy.
†OPENING HYMN: Blue # 526 “For All the Saints”
CALL TO CONFESSION:
PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Holy God, we confess that we have not always seen clearly. We have looked with judgement instead of compassion, stood in comfort instead of solidarity, and waited passively instead of watching actively. Forgive us for the times we have ignored injustice, for the moments we have resisted transformation. Renew our vision, and help us walk in the footsteps of the saints who trusted in Your promise.
SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION: In Jesus’ name, Amen
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS:
†PASSING OF THE PEACE:
†CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE: Blue# 579 “Gloria Patri”
TIME FOR ALL GOD’S CHILDREN:
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION:
God of wisdom, as we hear Your Word, may we be moved from lament to hope, from distance to connection, from blindness to sight. Speak, Lord, for Your servants are listening. Amen.
SCRIPTURE READINGS: Habakkuk 1: 1-4, 2: 1-4 Luke 19: 1-10
One: This is the word of God for the people of God.
All: Thanks be to God.
MESSAGE: “A Change of Perspective” David Sadler, CRE
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH:
In a broken and fearful world, the Spirit gives us courage to pray without ceasing, to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior, to unmask idolatries in church and culture, to hear the voices of peoples long silenced, and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace. In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit, we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks and to live holy and joyful lives, even as we watch for God’s new heaven and new earth, praying, “Come, Lord Jesus!” With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in live or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
