Message: David Sadler, CRE
Liturgist: Maureen Meyer
†CALL TO WORSHIP:
One: In the wilderness, on ordinary ground, Moses turned aside and beheld a bush that burned but was not consumed.
All: We turn aside now, trusting that God meets us in unexpected places.
One: God called Moses by name, not after his life was repaired, but in the midst of his fear and uncertainty.
All: God calls us too—through our wounds, through our questions, through our longing.
One: Come, let us behold the God who is “I AM,” the One who does not abandon us.
All: We worship the God whose fire illumines without destroying, whose presence sustains without failing.
†OPENING HYMN: # 441 “I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord” vs.1-4
CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Holy and gracious God, we confess that we often turn away rather than turn aside. We rush past the places where You are calling our name. We allow anger to consume rather than kindle hope. We cling to our wounds instead of trusting Your presence within them. Forgive us for the ways we resist Your call— to behold, to listen, to act for the sake of those who suffer. Set Your steady fire within us, that we may burn with compassion and not destruction, with courage and not fear. In Your mercy, hear our prayer.
SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION: We pray in Jesus’ name, Amen
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
†PASSING OF THE PEACE
†CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE: # 579 “Gloria Patri”
TIME FOR ALL GOD’S CHILDREN
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION:
Holy God, as Moses turned aside to behold Your burning fire, help us now to pause and attend to Your Word. Illuminate our hearts with a flame that guides without consuming and speak to us in the places where we most need Your presence. By Your Spirit, let us hear and follow. Amen.
SCRIPTURE READINGS: Psalm 26: 1-8; Exodus 3: 1-15
One: This is the word of God for the people of God.
