CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
God of truth, like a moth that gnaws at wool, our brokenness eats away at our souls. We allow the cacophony of greed, selfishness, apathy and ignorance to drown out your voice as you call us to see the suffering in our world and respond to the needs of your children. In our busy lives, we convince ourselves that there is no time to help, no space for prayer and no need for justice. Forgive us. Remind us that only when we slow down and breathe deeply of your Holy Spirit and holy Word can our ears hear your voice. Kindle within us a greater love for you and for all your people. Lord, in your mercy, receive the silent confessions we lift to you.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH:
We believe that the new life takes its shape from the life of Jesus Christ — his teaching and actions, his struggle with temptation, his compassion and anger, and his obedience even unto death. Through the teaching of apostles and prophets, and through the nurture of the Christian community, God equips us for faithful ministry. We believe that the church is sent as a servant of peace, seeking the welfare of all in cooperation with the powers of politics, culture, and economics. Yet we are called to resist every injustice and false claim that harms God’s people, confident that God’s purpose will finally triumph. We believe that life in Christ is life everlasting. The resurrection of Jesus assures us that God will bring to completion the work of creation and reconciliation, fulfilling the new life already begun in him.
