Message: David Sadler, CRE
Liturgist: Bobby Binns

Today we honor and give thanks for the men of our church whose lives reflect care, faith, and quiet strength — and for those who walk before us, beside us, and encourage those who follow.
†CALL TO WORSHIP:
One: In the midst of our fears, God calls us.
All: God calls us by name and claims us in love.
One: When the world feels uncertain and our hearts tremble,
All: Christ stands with us, reminding us we are not alone.
One: When shadows, lengthen, and courage falters,
All: the Spirit breathes peace, strength and holy boldness.
†OPENING HYMN: # 108 “Christ Is Alive!” vs. 1, 3, 4, & 5
CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Holy and gracious God, we confess that fear often rules our hearts. We fear not being enough, not having enough, not knowing enough. We fear the cost of discipleship and the vulnerability of trust. Too often, we cling to what is familiar instead of following where you lead. We shrink back when you call us forward. We guard our lives instead of giving them away in love. Forgive us, Lord. Meet us in our fear, lift us by your grace, and teach us to trust – not as a passive feeling, but as a creative, courageous act that builds you peace in the world. Now, Lord, hear our silent prayers of confession.
SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION: We pray in Jesus’ name, Amen
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
†PASSING OF THE PEACE
†CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE: # 579 “Gloria Patri”
TIME FOR ALL GOD’S CHILDREN
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION:
Holy Spirit, you search the hidden place of our hearts and speak courage into trembling souls. As your Word is read and proclaimed, quiet our fears, awaken our trust, and shape us into people who walk in the newness of life you give. Amen.
SCRIPTURE READINGS: Romans 6: 1b-11; Matthew 10:24-39
One: This is the word of God for the people of God.
All: Thanks be to God.
MESSAGE: "Fear, Reassurance and Trust” David Sadler, CRE
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH: (from a Brief Statemen of Faith)
We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father. In sovereign love God created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image, male and female, of every race and people, to live as one community. But we rebel against God; we hide from our Creator. Ignoring God’s commandments, we violate the image of God in others and ourselves, accept lies as truth, exploit neighbor and nature, and threaten death to the planet entrusted to our care. We deserve God’s condemnation. Yet God acts with justice and mercy to redeem creation. In everlasting love, the God of Abraham and Sarah chose a covenant people to bless all families of the earth. Hearing their cry, God delivered the children of Israel from the house of bondage. Loving us still, God makes us heirs with Christ of the covenant. Like a mother who will not forsake her nursing child, like a father who runs to welcome the prodigal home. God is faithful still.
