†CALL TO WORSHIP: (Psalm 100)
One: Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing.
All: Know that the Lord is God. It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
One: Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name.
All: For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
†OPENING HYMN: # 262 “God of the Ages, Whose Almighty Hand”
CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Lord God, we take so many of your blessing in stride, without a though about your generous love. Our lives are rich with friends, family, and this church. Our days are filled with purpose, meaningful work, and encounters with unexpected goodness. For all that you provide for us, Lord, our expressions of gratitude to you fall short; way short. Forgive us for taking your faithful love for granted. Forgive us for not recognizing your open, active hand in all those things that bring our lives connection, meaning, and joy. Above all, we are thankful for the forgiveness and new life we receive through trusting in Jesus Christ. Hear us now as we confess our sins in silence.
SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION: We pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
†PASSING OF THE PEACE
†CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE: # 579 “Gloria Patri”
TIME FOR ALL GOD’S CHILDREN
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION:
Silence our distractions. Calm our worries and quiet our fears. Speak the words you’ve prepared for us today, as we listen to the scriptures, the sermon and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
SCRIPTURE READINGS: Exodus 19:1-8; Matthew 9:35-10:4
One: This is the word of God for the people of God.
All: Thanks be to God.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH: (from the PCUSA A Brief Statemen of Faith)
We trust in the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life. The Spirit justifies us by grace through faith, sets us free to accept ourselves and to love God and neighbor, and binds us together with all believers in the one body of Christ, the Church. The same Spirit who inspired the prophets and apostles rules our faith and life in Christ through Scripture, engages us through the Word proclaimed, claims us in the waters of baptism, feeds us with the bread of life and cup of salvation, and calls women and men to all ministries of the Church. In a broken and fearful world, the Spirit gives us courage to pray without ceasing, to witness among all peoples to Chris as Lord and Savior, to unmask idolatries in Church and culture, to hear the voices of peoples long silenced, and to work with others for justice, freedom and peace. In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit, we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks and to live holy and joyful lives, even as we watch for God’s new heaven and new earth, praying, “Come, Lord Jesus!” With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Glory be to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.
