†CALL TO WORSHIP:
One The night has passed; joy has come in the morning. The Good News of Jesus Christ lasts day after day.
All: We celebrate and proclaim the Good News of Easter morning: Jesus Christ is risen!
One: He is risen indeed! The church, the body of Christ, shines the light of Jesus, overcoming darkness and gloom.
All: Speak to us again this morning, Lord, of the power, peace, and presence of our risen Savior, Jesus Christ.
†OPENING HYMN:#151 “Crown Him with Many Crowns”
CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Almighty God, you have empowered us, as your church, to become witnesses to the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. We confess that we are still learning to fully embrace and understand the power and impact of his resurrection in our world and in our own lives. We hesitate to speak of our faith and we’re not inclined to engage others in questions about faith in Christ. We are thankful to be members of a church whose mission and outreach to others is generous and faith-driven, but we also feel guilty, wishing we could do more. Walk with us, with your mercy, forgiveness, and guiding hand, as we strive to serve you and our neighbors with all our heart and soul. Hear now, our silent prayers of confession.
SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION: Amen.
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
†PASSING OF THE PEACE
†CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE: #579 “Gloria Patri”
TIME FOR ALL GOD’S CHILDREN
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION:
God of glory, fill your church with power that flows from Christ’s resurrection. In these often troubling, dehumanizing times, speak to us of Jesus’ humanity, and ours, and your capacity to intervene with holiness and abundant life. We trust in you; our ears are open. Amen.
SCRIPTURE: Psalm 16; John 20: 19-31
One: This is the word of God for the people of God.
All: Thanks be to God.
