Sunday April 5, 2026 Easter Sunday

Message: Rev. Ray Thomas
Liturgist: Travis Turk

†CALL TO WORSHIP:
One The angel told the women at the tomb, as dawn broke on that Sunday morning, “Do not be afraid; I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised as he said.”
All: Alleluia! All thanks be to God Almighty creator of heaven and earth!
One: Believe the good news: Jesus Christ is risen!
All: He is risen indeed!
†OPENING HYMN:#123 “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today”
CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Almighty God, in raising Jesus from the grave, you shattered the power of sin and death. We confess that we remain captive to doubt and fear, bound by the ways that lead to death. We overlook the poor and the hungry, and pass by those who grieve. We are deaf to the cries of the oppressed, and we abuse the earth you created. Forgive us, God of mercy. Help us to trust your power to change our lives and make us new, so that we may embrace the joy of abundant life, given in Jesus Christ, our risen Savior. Hear, now, our silent prayers of confession.
SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION: Amen.
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
†PASSING OF THE PEACE
†CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE: #579 “Gloria Patri”
TIME FOR ALL GOD’S CHILDREN
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION:
All: Draw our attention, Giver of life, into your Word. Speak through your Spirit, to our spirits. Revive hope, invigorate joy, cultivate peace, inspire love, through our risen Savior, Jesus Christ.
SCRIPTURE: Jeremiah 31: 1-6; Matthew 28: 1-10
One: This is the word of God for the people of God.
All: Thanks be to God.
MESSAGE: “The New Day Dawns” Rev. Ray Thomas
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH: (1 Corinthians 15: 50-58)
What I am saying, brothers and sisters, is this: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery! We will not all die, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For this perishable body must put on imperishability, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable body puts on imperishability, and this mortal body puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will be fulfilled: “Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
