Message: Rev. Ray Thomas
Liturgist: Dave Nock

†CALL TO WORSHIP: (Psalm 139: 13-18)
One For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
All: I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.
One: My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being formed in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
All: Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them yet existed.
One: How weighty to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
All: I try to count them – they are more than the sand; I come to the end – I am still with you
†OPENING HYMN: Blue #469 “Morning Has Broken”
CALL TO CONFESSION:
PRAYER OF CONFESSION:  God of mercy, we trust in your promised, saving love in Jesus Christ. We’ve fallen short, dishonored your name, and not lived as persons who have committed to reflecting you light. We’ve sidestepped opportunities to speak your truth and to stand for what is right and just. We’ve turned away from neighbors, not choosing to risk what love might demand from us. We’ve been deceived by falsehoods that have depleted us of the hope you’ve promised in our risen Savior. Restore us again, in the firm foundation of faith in Jesus. Forgive us our sins and cleanse us from guilt, by the power and peace of new life in Jesus Christ. Hear us now as we confess our sins silently.
SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION: In Jesus’ name, Amen
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
†PASSING OF THE PEACE
†CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE: Blue# 579 “Gloria Patri”
TIME FOR ALL GOD’S CHILDREN
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION: Speak your word, Lord: your word which gives us life and brings us into the light. Calm our worries; clear away our distractions. Quench the thirst in our spirits for a closer connection to you; Creator, Savior, Spirit. Amen.
SCRIPTURE READINGS: John 9: 1-7; 1 Samuel 16: 1-13
One: This is the word of God for the people of God.
All: Thanks be to God.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH: (from the PCUSA A Brief Statement of Faith)
In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with the outcast, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal.
